After what has been an incredibly difficult year for every Armenian, the National Team gave us all something to cheer about. In an extremely hard fought and gritty performance, Joaquin Caparros and his depleted Armenia side were able to overcome Maceodnia 1-0 thanks to a fine finish from fullback Hovhannes Hambardzumyan, assisted by none other than the Prodigy, Vahan Bichakhchyan!

As a result, Armenia top Group C2 and win promotion to UEFA Nations League Group B, where the competition is much better. This was not the only prize, the win also takes Armenia to Pot 4 in World Cup Qualifiers, meaning that the National Team may have a more favorable draw in the crucial World Cup Qualifiers campaign next year. Armenia also now have a shot at a playoff spot if they do not clinch qualification in the traditional route, although this path would require a series of unlikely events to occur. 

Despite this, and a mountain of challenges before the squad, including missing 8 players due to COVID-19, several key starters injured, the team was able to put up an iconic defensive display that has never been witnessed by Armenians. The tactics deployed by Caparros, due to the personnel available, was perfect. This man is really improving Armenia day by day despite everything trying to hold Armenia back.
